Developed with the intention to deepen appreciation of the U.S. Constitution among high school students, Florida students are given the opportunity to participate in levels beginning with local and ending with the state. State winners may go on to the national competition and potentially win up to $18,000 toward educational expenses.
Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarship
Made available to Dixie Youths who participate in Dixie Youth Baseball in Florida and other southern states. These scholarships have been awarded since 1961 and currently total $140,000 per year in college money for a variety of students who are former Dixie baseball and softball players. The scholarship is in no way given based upon athletic ability, but other content is measured such as financial need, citizenship, and scholastic performance. Only students entering college for the first time are qualified to apply.
PMI Central Florida Chapter Scholarship
The Project Management Institute is a membership association for people in the project management profession. This non-profit association offers resources and research for its members, as well as scholarships in various chapters. The Central Florida Chapter of PMI offers college education function for those who are residents of Central Florida, or any individual who plans to attend any college or university in Central Florida. Others are allowed to apply but preference is given to those from or attending in Central Florida or Florida. Scholarships are in the amount of $1,000.
Simon Youth Foundation Community Scholarship
Simon Properties, which is the owner of various malls across the United States, makes college money available to students in communities that host Simon shopping centers. There are over 40 Simon properties in the state of Florida. Recipients are based upon financial need, academics, and community participation or leadership. Awards up to $1,500 are given to those chosen. Up to 208 awards are given for undergraduate study only and are not renewable. There is also a $2,500 Award of Excellence given to the top applicant from the Miami, Florida area, renewable for up to three years for undergraduate study only.
