Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund Begun in memory of two different state legislators, the Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund is funded by an annual auction benefit held in Augusta, featuring “made in Maine” items for the benefit of the fund. Eligible applicants will be residents of the state of Maine who are in process toward attending any Maine college, university, or other accredited institution of higher learning. The goal is to award 16 students, one from each of the counties in Maine, a scholarship in a varying amount. The scholarships have been given in individual amounts up to $1,000 each, depending on the success of the auction.
Maine Society of Professional Engineers Scholarships Offered to seniors who are graduating from a Maine high school, this scholarship is provided to students who are pursuing a degree in engineering. Selections are based upon academics, teacher recommendations, extra curricular activities, standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), any work experience, and an essay. Amounts given will vary based upon the year.
Maine Skating Club Scholarship Awarded to a high school senior who is in the process of graduating from high school, this scholarship is given to a current or past member of the Maine Skating Club and have participated in the National Roller Skating Championship. Amounts given for college tuition and costs will vary.

Shaw-Worth Memorial Scholarship Given to a senior in high school in New England who has been dedicated to animal protection on a long-term basis. Whether leadership in an animal protection organization; direct work for animals; a speech, presentation, or paper written on topics related to humane treatment of animals; or some sort of action which resulted in the heroic rescue of an animal or animals. Students who are qualified will prove a long-term care for animals. No standardized application form is required, but applications may be written on the form of a letter and documentation of activities, as well as at least three recommendations. Financial need is not considered, and academic standing is also not considered. Awards are given in the amount of $2,500 to assist with college tuition.
Tuition Assistance in Maine for Veteran Families
Veterans’ Dependents Educational Benefits Program Spouses and children of deceased veterans who attend a post-secondary school which is state supported are eligible to receive tuition and fee waivers in varying amounts. University of Maine System, Maine Maritime Academy, and Maine Community Colleges are included as qualified institutions for two-year or four-year degree options. In order to receive benefits, students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average and there are other requirements related to age of children as well as application for a federal Pell Grant.
